CALL FOR PROJECTS 
300.000 â for art projects to be developed in Madrid

Intermedià is an initiative of the Arts Department of Madrid City
Council. It will be opened in 2007 and is located in the Matadero
(former abattoir) in the Legazpi district of the city. It will provide
the city of Madrid1 with an arena for contemporary creative arts in
which the City Council will act as a catalyst for artists and public in
pursuit of alternative forms of expression, creation and thought. 

IntermediÃâs defining characteristic and purpose is to enhance the
process2 and therefore enabling us to find new procedures of
understanding and commitment to art through exploration, reflection and
intervention. The key to converging to consider and propose new models
lies in an open and permeable process.

Those processes should foster transdisciplinarity3 by inviting the
participation of all those disciplines capable of exploration through
creation. That will extend the capacity to reflect the reality of our
complex cultural world. In turn, the creation of networks of cooperation
and communication to further extend the proposal will be encouraged.
