Indiscipline ________ demonstrates the wide net of contemporary disciplines.
Programmed are eight "presentations" from artists, psychoanalysts,
philosophers, theater makers and others. Throughout the city of Brussels at
various locations the concepts are realized and branch of into many fields
corresponding with locations and activities all over Europe. This Œtheater
of operations¹(1) will form an unrestricted exhibition map on which the
projects will take place. In doing so Indiscipline _______ will trace the
complex strata of contemporary culture.

Invited are eight practitioners who each articulate a concept that
participates in the widening of contemporary thought. Presenting ideas that
do not fit in the structure of clearly defined disciplines. It challenges
the intellectuals to actively participate in the creative process of
exhibition making and to place their intellectual findings into direct
publicness. On the other hand, Indiscipline _________ will invite the
artists to go beyond the language of the visual and focus on the conceptual
qualities of their work.

The project is "undisciplined", and moves between the structures of theater,
happening, exhibition, workshop and the internet. It shows the complexity of
culture and cultural production. Since the presentations do not have a fixed
form they will be presented as a series of time-based events. Every week one
event is being programmed. These one-time events could easily pass
unnoticed. During the opening and initial press conference each participant
will present her/his proposition, blurring the borderlines between opening
and press event.

In the Center Brussels 2000 and on the web site of Indiscipline________, two
of the project's venues, Indiscipline will provide a continuous
documentation of the different aspects of the eight events during the whole
period of the project from 26 October to 3 December 2000.
