Re: <nettime> Whatever Happened to Cybernetics? |
I've documented that cybernetics was a significant influence in the development of the vision and engineering design for the Internet as negative feedback is signficant as the basis for the research that made it possible to create the Internet. See for example: http://www.columbia.edu/~rh120/other/misc/lick101.doc The Information Processing Techniques Office and the Birth of the Internet A Study in Governance I have some other papers about the development of tcp/ip if anyone is interested. best wishes ronda # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: http://mail.kein.org/mailman/listinfo/nettime-l # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@kein.org
