can someone explain how this is much different from what Enron
was trying to do worldwide, namely intensively manipulate supply
and thereby secure huge profits? if so, was that damnable on the
grounds of conspiracy theorizing as well? I think speculation as
an underlying motor seems to be rather easy to accept, esp. since
many the other commodities subject to worldwide speculation have
already had boom-bust cycles in the near term. Enron, of course, also
imploded. So did so many speculating in the housing bubble and the
tech bubble.

Of course, all other explanations are welcome, too.
