My main point was to say that the US is a mass of humanity like any other mass of humanity and it has gone through, is going through, and will go through the same cycles and events as any other human-spawned techno-social system anywhere and anywhen. John Young postulates that anything is impossible in the US because of the elite handlers, and while that might be true to some extent now, that does not mean (at all!) that the shit won't hit the fan in a year or next month (after the 8.2 LA earthquake, or whatever crisis hits). The cycles of empire, of nation-state are not avoidable, period. So I think John's cynicism (or simple personal paralysis) is pro forma for the role on the mailing list that he has taken on. He redirects a frustration felt about that paralysis outwards at those who are actively living. so it goes. And all this forgetting that there are autonomous zones that are extant at a wide set of scalar and temporal manifestations within any techno-social system. Some systems have more than others, but to think that there is no possibility to ever escape from under the thumb of those 'controlling the show' exhibits a lack of understanding of the nature of the cosmos. so it goes. & Morlock, I dunno, what's war to you, when yer bloody stumps are ex post facto created with a hacksaw and a tipple of whisky after getting mini-balled with a .50 calibre thru the extremities? I personally don't know fast war like that, so I won't really theorize, but I do know the slow attrition of life as it goes so far, war is merely a speeding up of the passage... it happens. jh - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2011 14:29:44 -0800 (PST) From: MK Karnak <madame_karnak@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: <nettime> Wisconsin report Dear Everybody, It is not being made clear that Walker gave huge tax breaks to corporations and his cronies (sorry, "supporters") and then tried to break the unions in Wisconsin. According to the twitter stream created by a solidarity group that is supporting the workers of Wisconsin, the police and firefighters are refusing to be "bought off" by Walker. Frankly, I am completely disgusted with Walker trying to kill off the unions in his state. The Koch brothers who inherited their fortunes from their father are the ones funding much of the anti-worker activity in this country. They are also very big at flouting any laws that they don't agree with. I am tired of all of these political prostitutes who do back flips for those that are destroying this country. I am even more angry at the nitwits that support them with mean-spirited legislation. Just today, I got a bill for a "surcharge" on a "traffic ticket" that I would not have gotten if the little towns in my area were not permitted to use any conceivable pretext to ticket people and then deny driver's licenses to extort money from them. I am so angry at being used like an ATM for alleged leaders who have destroyed this country and world with their greed. In my state, the governor won't live in the state mansion. He has demanded a $10,000 a month condo. This is the same governor who mysteriously got re-elected by our paperless voting machines EVEN THOUGHT NOBODY LIKES HIM. This is a state which has been drilling and fracking every bit of the limestone in the state and pulling out gas by the thousands of linear gallons and yet proclaims that it is broke. This is a state that has put up traffic cameras on remote highways where almost nobody lives. They have wasted money on contracts for their "supporters" while bitching about giving poor people $100 a month for food stamps. Walker is just another example of this sort of politician. WE HAVE TO STAND WITH THE WORKERS AND PUSH BACK AGAINST THE ELITISTS WHO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO PUSH US INTO POVERTY WHILE THEY get government contracts at highly inflated rates. The saddest part of all of this is that I was raised in a "right to work" state. I now see that for the farce that it is. States that fail to protect the rights of workers will end up with no jobs for those workers. That has been demonstrated time after time. Ironically enough, I read that China forced Walmart to create a union for Chinese workers...this is the same Walmart that denies workers unions in the US. I never thought that I would support labor so strongly, but I now see it as the last bastion of hope for the rest of us.
