Re: <nettime> The Trump Speech |
While viewing the US elites as a monolithic interest in conflict with the rest of the poor colonized world, and ongoing changes as the result of this conflict, might be stimulating, it's not realistic. The rest of the poor colonized world has been properly fucked and is more or less ineffective.
What is more realistic is intra-elite "industrial revolution", where the segments of the elite that did not massively benefit from the militarized economy are rising. US of A, Inc. revenues come from taxes. Currently these go to feed the militarized economy, from which about 1/3rd of the US population live from.
This shift may involve channeling this revenue money into something else, and making a different segment of the elites float to the top. It still needs globalized communications, intimidations and control, but not necessarily the burn rate of, what ... 3-400 lives per day (averaged over major war spikes.) That's so 20th century.
The proposition is that another kind of sustainable tax money consumption is more efficient than the old militarized economy model. If correct, it's a step forward, at least for the would be dead ones (and a boost for the Marxist school of thought ... means of production, social relations etc.)
