He received a Masters from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU and spent two years there as an Interval Research Fellow creating interactive digital / networked projects. His work focuses on subverting existing relationships to human / networked interfaces by building new real-world inputs to networks, redefining how information is used and disseminated online, and shifting virtual processes into physical forms through networked devices and experiences. His work has been shown both in the US and internationally at events such as DEAF, Transmediale, SIGGRAPH, ISEA, Ars Electronica and others. Katherine Moriwaki URL: http://www.kakirine.com Katherine Moriwaki received her Masters degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Her work has appeared in IEEE Spectrum Magazine, and has been exhibited at Siggraph 2000, New York University, Lincoln Center, the Darklight Digital Festival 2002, and the Backup Festival of Film and New Media 2002. She has lectured internationally, including el Universidad de Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Numer.02 at Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris France, and FAB: Filters and Blockers, Basel, Switzerland and has worked as an Electronic Art Consultant for ABCDF, an exhibition held in el Palacio de Bellas Artes, Mexico City, Mexico. As a Design Fellow at Parsons School of Design in New York, she developed and taught Fashionable Technology, an interdisciplinary collaboration studio that explores the interstices of wearable technology, art, and fashion. Her current work investigates the artistic possibilities of wireless and ad-hoc networks. Katherine is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Dublin, at Trinity College Dublin, in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Dr. Linda E.Doyle. Stephen Barrass URL: http://www.cmis.csiro.au/index.htm Stephen is a researcher at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia. He has experience with virtual environments, human computer interaction, multi-sensory interfaces, sonification, perceptual signal processing, algorithmic music and music visualisation. He holds a Ph.D. on Auditory Information Design from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of NSW on Computer Generated Holograms. His recent projects include the Aboriginal Welcome Dance for the Gallery of First Australians (2001), OpShop and the joys of smashing things by singing in public at Experimenta (2002), Haptic snuffbox - a virtual object that tells the story of the emigrants on HMS Lady Anne at the Graphite Interactive Art show (2003).
