[Nettime-nl] SELECT MEDIA FESTIVAL: REGIME CHANGE FOR US TOUR |
SELECT MEDIA FESTIVAL: REGIME CHANGE FOR US TOUR http://www.lumpen.com/events/smf/regime.html Select Media Festival goes to Europe this December, visiting Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Paris. We are bringing programs that were featured at the Select Media Festival 2 hosted in Chicago Nov 19-26, 2003. The TV Sheriff and Trail Buddies as well as Misty Martinez and Douggpound will be performing live. Agit-prop media from Select and Lumpen magazines, as well as installations by Save America , Make Out Not War and other surprises will be presented. We will be screening videos and films that give a glimpse of dissent by cultural workers from the US and beyond. The festival highlights "Cultural Interference" and will share an examination of works by radical cultural activists and experimental video makers critiquing various coercive forces and systems. Mixing desktop editing techniques and a good sense of humorthese makers appropriate work, divert and re-edit it as a way to register their dissent. Described as tactical mediaticians, culture jammers, troublemakers, media activists and pranksters, these creators have made works that are some of the best from the digital video underground. Our insurgent media festival will be presented on these dates at the following venues: Dec 14: Rotterdam - De Player : http://www.lumpen.com/events/smf/deplayer.html Dec 16: Rotterdam - Worm : http://www.lumpen.com/events/smf/worm.html Dec 18-20: Amsterdam - Bitterzoet http://www.lumpen.com/events/smf/amsterdam.html Dec 20: Paris Le Triptyque : http://www.lumpen.com/events/smf/paris.html other dates may be added This festival presented by Lumpen and friends.
