Browsing large image- and video collections
When: Wednesday, 16 May, 16:00-18:00 o'clock Where: room 0.13, Turfdraagsterpad 9
Speaker: Marcel Worring, Intelligent Systems Lab Amsterdam, UvA (host: Yuri Engelhardt)
Abstract: Digital image- and video collections are growing rapidly. Accesing such collections is still cumbersome as there is a large gap between the data and the semantic interpretation a user has of the data. We study methods that limit the gap using computer vision and machine learning. In realistic settings, however, this is never sufficient and finding visual information requires a substantial amount of interaction with the user. We will present a number of innovative interfaces, using advanced visualization, which help the user in locating the images of interest. An elaborate evaluation of their use will be presented.
