Candlelight Vigil

This November 15th, please join us for a candlelight vigil, commemorating the Day of the Imprisoned Writer.  The goal of the vigil is to raise public awareness of the plight of writers worldwide.

Since January, 124 writers have been imprisoned worldwide, 2 writers have been killed, 65 are currently under investigation, 203 are fighting judicial process, 45 have received death threats, 45 have been harassed, 65 have been attacked, and 1 has been kidnapped.  This treatment is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

PEN USA and Amnesty International at LMU are proudly sponsoring this event.  We are non-profit membership organization with a history of defending writers and journalists both at home and abroad who are imprisoned, threatened, persecuted, or attacked in the course of carrying out their professional work.
