KumaTalks 2.0
TALK TWO: Networking beyond Schengen
May 16, 2012, 5:30 p.m. (CET)

On
May 16, starting at 5.30 p.m., the series KumaTalks 2.0 continues with
an online one-hour talk in English on the topic âNetworking beyond
Schengen.â âSchengenâ here refers to the paradoxical principle that
ensures free movement of persons within the Schengen area, but at the
same time excludes the rest of the world while establishing a so-called
âFortress Europeâ. Victoria Ivanova (UA) and Philipp Dietachmair (AT)
will discuss the potentials and challenges of the international cultural
cooperation beyond such geopolitical borders, based on âbest practiceâ
examples.

Victoria Ivanova is a co-founder, strategy manager and
curator at the cultural center IZOLYATSIA (Donetsk, Ukraine). She is
also a member of the International Coalition for Arts, Human Rights, and
Social Justice and the European Union Access to Culture Platform. In
the past, Victoria has worked on projects pertaining to civil liberties,
death penalty (Reprieve, UK), and youth empowerment (Envision, UK). She
studied law, as well as politics and philosophy in London and holds a
Masterâs Degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics.

Philipp Dietachmair is a program manager at the European
Cultural Foundation (ECF) in charge of the EU Neighborhood Program. He
develops and manages long-term cultural policy and capacity development
initiatives for the cultural sector in Ukraine, in the Republic of
Moldova, Belarus, Turkey, the South East Mediterranean, Russia, and the
Western Balkans. From 1999 to 2001, he coordinated higher education
development projects and organized cultural events in Sarajevo,
BosniaâHerzegovina for the World University Service (WUS) in Austria.

The discussion will be moderated by Wiebke Stadler. The venue is an
online Adobe Connect conference room that will be open to the public on
May 16, from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. To participate in the discussion,
please click on the link below and register as a guest.
