[oldboys] call for "cyberfem spirit" |
„Cyberfem Spirit“ The Edith Russ Site for Media Art (Edith-Ruß-Haus für Medienkunst) in Oldenburg is preparing an exhibition to be opened on November 30, 2001. This call for submissions is a request for different and conflicting artistic positions related to cyberfeminism. Selected entries will be included in the exhibition „Cyberfem Spirit“. The term „cyberfeminism“ amasses varying feminist strategies, fabrications and critiques related to digital media. New media are not just tools or material that can also be employed for artistic work. New media act as a subject that initiates the restructuring of, for instance, perceptions of gender and technology. Any newly created structures can be the basis, theme and evaluation of artistic models. One question for „Cyberfem Spirit“ is how the public space of cyberspace and „real“ exhibition space influence each other. The disappearing presence and presentability of digital and networked art as well as the need to present them will be addressed. Another factor in the exhibition is cyberfeminists‘ investigation of institutional frameworks. All those who call themselves cyberfeminists will be considered potential exhibitors. And the submitted works can be realized in any medium. We look forward to your suggestions, thoughts and comments.
