Look and Feel represents a coming together of artists whose work embodies
an individualistic interpretation of the impact of progressive technologies
on everyday life. It also underlines the dexterity with which these artists
reconfigure digital media according to their own artistic terms and
conditions. Look and Feel plucks a strand from the much wider debate
surrounding emergent technologies and engages us through a series of
discreet art objects on a domestic scale. Much of the work offers up
associations with what we might ordinarily find around the home - computer
games, videos, and photographs. In order to benefit from the work, it is
important to spend time looking at it, and playing it. Most of the artists
in this show can be pursued beyond this exhibition through their own
web-sites. Without having to resort to dizzying displays of virtual
reality, the participating artists offer us a reflection of ordinary
technology within the language of fine art practice.

Look and Feel is a project within a project and takes place under the
auspices of ‘M(odel) 4 ƒ’ – a project started in June 2000 as a result of a
conversation between Waling Boers (BüroFriedrich Director) and Rirkrit
Tiravanija (artist).
