She is based part time at FACT, Liverpool, UK [The Foundation for Art & Creative Technologies], where she recently completed a 2 year traineeship in Project Mangement and Curation, focusing on collaborations between new media artists and members of the local black communities in Toxteth, Liverpool. Mickela is also an active member of VIRTUAL REVOLUTIONS media art community. Besides that Mickela is the Administrator for The Fittings Group - a touring disabled theatre Group and the manager of Die Kunst - an art-rock band based in Manchester, UK. MERCURIAL STATES [www.mercurialstates.com] The Mercurial States website has been recently updated and Mickela has began to develop the second stage of Mercurial States which so far consists of a Creative Technology module, located at Liverpool Black Sisters. The collaboration will bring together local women based in Toxteth, an artist and a multi media trainer. The module will culminate in an exhibition/presentation during the Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Arts this year from September to October. Iliyana NEDKOVA [BG/UK] [vr@fact.co.uk] Iliyana is lately a freelance curator, lecturer, writer and facilitator of a number of media art events in/about Eastern Europe and Bulgaria, in particular. Iliyana is also a part time MPhil/PhD research fellow at the Liverpool Art School, Liverpool John Moores University. Currently she is based at FACT, Liverpool [the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology] as a curator-in-residence. VIRTUAL REVOLUTIONS [www.yourserver.co.uk/vr] VIRTUAL REVOLUTIONS has been initiated to address the fragmented cultural identities from both sides of the former East/West divide by providing opportunities for about 71 international electronic art professionals to travel, meet, research in rich stimulating environments such as festivals and media labs across Europe in the summer of 1998. The VR community, which has emerged of the VR summer series of digital art workshops is now busy with setting up the VR Publication featuring VR CD and VR WEB of entirely new cd-rom and net-based works and a VR BOOK of critical writings. VR WEB has just been updated, marking the new production-oriented stage of the project. This will be the European premiere of the VR WEB. Mickela & Iliyana will be giving brief and informal presentations of their experiences of the nature and process of collaborative, community based art projects and tour of the websites. Hopefully, an interesting talk will develop from the close discussion. Mickela looks forward to hearing about similar projects or otherwise that artists are producing on a local level. The guest presentations are courtesy of ICA-SOFIA. Mickela SONOLA guest visit is kindly facilitated by N-Forms Vision Foundation, Sofia and TED Gallery, Varna.
